Moving Energy Through Song
Singing in the shower is one of my secret healing weapons. I use the cleansing power of water and song to MOVE stagnant energy in a way that goes deep and connects to my soul.
What started out as just something fun has shifted into a sacred healing ritual that I CANNOT live without.
Initially, I sang upbeat songs in the shower that raised my vibe in the mornings. But then I discovered that some days singing happy songs when I was feeling down just didn’t cut it, and, by forcing it, I wasn’t allowing myself to be present with my true experience.
So for those days when I am feeling off, I’ve discovered a few ‘moodier’ songs that always strike my heart strings in a way that allows me to process my emotions, let it all out, and go about my day in more alignment.
Now I have two different Sacred Shower Playlists :
High Vibe: This one really increases my vibration and lights me up, leaving me feeling like I can take on my day. It includes songs like: Don't Stop Me Now - Queen, Suddenly I See - KT Tunstill, and How Far I’ll Go - Moana Soundtrack
Feel and Transform: After using this to move through deep emotion, I feel aligned and and clear. Once I cleanse whatever is hovering beneath the surface, I can really feel the sense of me coming back to myself. It includes songs like: Ghost - Indigo Girls, One Moment in Time - Whitney Houston, Guiding Light - Mumford and Sons; Give Me Love - George Harrison
I’ve cried more soul-quenching tears in the shower than ANYwhere else (a sure release of stuck emotions).
Especially as a busy mom, sometimes the shower is the only healing time I have to myself so I make the most of it by singing loud to my playlists and letting my voice and the music move my energy.
Some days I know exactly what I need to work through and let go of, and sometimes I can only feel it as tension in my body and I just know I need to take it to the shower.
Singing in the shower is one more way Healing Artistry expresses itself in my life.
Healing Artistry Practice #2:
Create two playlists for your own sacred shower healing sessions.
For the ‘upbeat’ playlist, choose songs that make you want to dance or roll down the window in your car and belt it out!
For the ‘moodier’ playlist, enjoy the process of intentionally choosing songs that speak to you, are meaningful, move you, and make you feel something.
Sacred Shower Tips:
PLAY it REALLY loud :)
Sing it even louder, no one can hear you over the volume and water anyways
Let the tears flow if they want to
Dance if you are moved to (but please be careful)
Feel all the old energy that no longer serves you going down the drain
Once you have your playlists, I would love to know how this works for you! Bonus points if you share your playlists with me!
To Your Metamorphosis,
Jorie
